Kashi Utkarsh

"Kashi Utkarsh is an initiative undertaken by the students of IIT(BHU) to alleviate the suffering and the issues faced by the members of the less privileged strata of the society. The students make constant effort to help such people in various areas (bastis) like Patiya, Lehartara, and Kakarmatta. They collect funds for the betterment of the poor people and make efforts to improve their lifestyle by instructing them about better, hygienic living conditions and making them understand the value of providing good education to their children. To this end, they also organize free medical camps and awareness drives in the bastis. This organization also tries to impart vocational skills to the poor to enable them to stand on their own feet. The organization tries to connect with people at an individual level, understand and solve their problems. This has been evident not just in the fundraising but also the moral support given by them to the suffering. We truly appreciate the humanitarian efforts of our students and the social service culture they are trying to cultivate in the campus."
